York County 4-H is a youth development program of Penn State Extension. As a 4-H member, your child will participate in a variety of learning experiences. 4-Her's "learn by doing" through involvement in projects. 4-H members make new friends and learn to work and play with other young people and adults. 4-H offers programs for boys and girls from age 5 to 18.
Cloverbuds: Kids ages 5 to 7 can participate in the 4-H Cloverbud program. Cloverbuds learn about and explore: their community, the world around them, science, health, and art in a group setting. Cloverbud projects are not competitive. Cloverbuds may participate in monthly 4-H club meetings.
Regular 4-H Members: Kids ages 8 to 18 can participate in 4-H. 4-H members get to participate in club group activities such as: field trips to local amusement parks, sporting events, and businesses. Kids will also get to make new friends, participate in projects, and have club parties. Monthly club meetings are held where kids can decide on activities and fundraisers their club will have. The kids run the meeting using parliamentary procedure under the guidance of adult volunteer leaders.
Each member is required to complete and enter into the yearly 4-H Fair one project per year to be in good standing in 4-H. Although most kids complete several projects each year. Projects are displayed at the York County 4-H Fair in August and judged. Projects with high honors at the York County 4-H Fair are permitted to be entered in the York Interstate Fair and the Pennsylvania State Farm Show.
Cost to Join York County 4-H: *ONLY $21 per year for 4H Enrollment
* Additional individual club dues may apply.
Adult Volunteers: Screened volunteers are always needed.
Volunteer positions are club leaders and project leaders.
Club Leader:
Club leaders run the general business of a club. They are liaison between the club and the local Penn State Extension Office.
Project Leader:Project leaders run the various projects available to 4H members. Examples of projects are cooking, woodworking, aerospace, sewing, painting, fishing, robotics, various animals and much more. (Contact the local Penn State Extension Office for a complete list.)
